Lisa and Pablo said ‘I do’ amid the captivating scenes of Guatemala
Guatemala was always a primary choice because Pablo is from there. I also fell in the love with the climate and the spectacular volcanic and sunset views. Antigua truly is a magical romantic destination. When it came to choose our wedding and reception venues, our wedding planner Diana, from I Do Guatemala took over for us. We told her that we wanted something outdoor and majestic, with spectacular views. She understood right away what we wanted, and she totally delivered!
We did make an effort to keep costs down, as we were on a budget. Our wish was to have a small intimate wedding but we hoped to make it elegant and unconventional. We just gave Diana our budget and she exceeded our expectations! We met a couple of times, talked about options, saw some ideas online and left the rest to the team. Everybody was in awe of the place, the decorations, the food, everything! She negotiated on our behalf and honestly we got so much more than what we expected!
It really wasn’t difficult to organise our guest’s accommodation. The great thing about Antigua is that it has so many boutique hotels. The I Do team helped book many hotels for different budgets, so we were able to give our guests options. Everybody had a blast picking out a cute hotel near the venue. I purchased my wedding dress from Jessica’s Bridal in Guatemala City. It was actually love at first sight. For my hair and makeup look, I was inspired by what I had seen on Pinterest. I knew I wanted to have two looks one more formal for the ceremony and to literally let my hair loose for the party
One of the challenges about planning a wedding is that, it’s sometimes hard to know exactly what you want. When you have to decide on something you have to keep in mind all the other elements of the wedding to maintain a certain harmony. If you can, hire a wedding planner. They are experts and really do help a lot. I never had to deal with vendors or any problems. My wedding was stress free and we value that so much! I have heard terrible stories about how stressful this whole process can be and really it shouldn’t, it’s a time to cherish!
