Mara and Jon said ‘I do’ amid the stunning scenes of the Dominican Republic
We chose the Dominican Republic, because we both come from very different places. I’m from Santo Domingo and Jon is from New York, so meeting in the middle, in paradise, seemed like the perfect compromise. The ceremony and reception were on the same property, which we felt really eased, some logistical issues. We also had the perfect spot, with a huge, beautiful garden and a great beachside dining area. We have a unique love, a special bond, and we wanted our celebration to reflect that.
When we were thinking of decorations, we knew it was the natural beauty that made the venue look so unique, so we tried to bring the colors of the natural surroundings out. It rained briefly earlier in the day and just created the most spectacular back drop for photos!
We really did try and keep costs down, at each and every turn. The wedding and reception had spectacular fireworks, a special live song and delicious food complete with late night snacks. Our wedding planner Richard Weber, at 4TW Dominican Wedding Planner knew we had to have these things and knew we couldn’t afford all of them, so we got creative. Robert was able to leverage his extensive contacts and put options on the table we would have thought of!
My advice to couples would be to get the right planner and get creative. The all-inclusive resort option makes sense for couples that do not want to do any heavy lifting or operate outside of the “box”. There is no right or wrong, but if you are excited to be part of your process, find someone that can bridge both worlds. Someone that understands your unique desires and the needs of your guests, and then go for it!
